Trail Description:

The Tony Knowles Coastal Bicycle Trail follows the coastaline of Anchorage beside Knik Arm and Cook Inlet. The trail, which is paved, is great for biking, running, walking, push-bike scootering, and in the winter, skiing. There are three grades which are challenging: the approaches to Earthquake Park between mile markers 2 and 2.5, and Point Woronzol between mile markers 3 and 4 plus the approach to Point Campbell between mile marker 8.5 to 9.

Along the southern half of the trail, wildlife can be viewed such as moose, caribou, bears, bold eagles and even Beluga whales. One must use caution in approaching moose. They can be aggressive especially during mating season. To be well informed, visit www.mooseworld.com before traveling on this trail.

The trail passes by the Ted Stephens Anchorage International Airport near mile marker 6. Children will love the close view of arriving and departing airplanes.

The Alaska Tony Knowles Coastal Trail, named after former mayor of Anchorage and Governor of Alaska, offers many breathtaking views. From brilliant views of Knik Arm coastline to the Anchorage City skyline and close up encounters with Alaskan wildlife will make your experience on this trial unforgetable
